OCT imaging of the eye

The Heidelberg Spectralis OCT (ocular coherence tomography) scanner is an invaluable diagnostic instrument.  It uses light waves to image the retina and optic nerve and can detect changes of 1/1000 of a millimetre in the structure of the eye.  It is used in the diagnosis and management of eye diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular occlusions.
